Hee-Jin Kim served as an examiner at the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), a litigation officer in the litigation team of KIPO, a patent judge at the Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board (IPTAB), an investigator at the Supreme Court, a Judicial technical examiner at the Intellectual Property High Court, and a Presiding trial judge of IPTAB for 20 years from 2000 to 2021.

She has extensive amount of practical experience in handling numerous major pharmaceutical, chemical and biotechnology cases while serving at IPTAB, Intellectual Property High Court, and Supreme Court, and is recognized for her outstanding work competency in the field. In addition, Hee-Jin Kim, a patent attorney, has extensive knowledge on the trends of legal principles on major issues in the field of intellectual property by serving as an investigator and judicial technical examiner in court for many years.

After graduating from the College of Pharmacy, Seoul National University (1993), Hee-Jin Kim obtained a master's degree (1995) and a doctorate degree (1999) from the Graduate School of Pharmacy, Seoul National University. She is a member of the Korean Patent Attorneys Association.
