Hyang-Jin Kim is a patent attorney experienced in prosecuting patent applications before the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) in the fields of chemistry, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and biochemistry. Ms. Kim has participated in a number of patent litigation matters before Korean courts, and has extensive experience providing expert opinions, handling invalidation trials and supporting litigation - particularly in the fields of chemistry and pharmaceuticals.
Ms. Kim has also advised clients on technology transfer and licensing agreements. She has been involved in the assessment of IP rights, evaluations of markets, analyses of the patent landscape, preparation of license agreements, and providing freedom-to-operate opinions, based on her comprehensive understanding and experiences on technology transfers.
Ms. Kim had worked at Lee International IP & Law between 2007 and 2010. She left the firm in 2010 and returned in September, 2012. During the period, She worked at Dawool Patent and Law Firm where she enriched her IP practice expertise drafting patent applications, consulting inventors, working closely with in-house counsels and advising on project plans. She also assisted clients in prosecuting their patent applications in a variety of jurisdictions including the United States, China, Japan and before the EPO.
Ms. Kim is a member of the Korean Patent Attorneys Association and the Korea Technology Transfer Agents Association.
Ms. Kim graduated from Yonsei University, with a B.S. degree in chemistry (2007). She also studied intellectual property law at the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law in the United States and received an LL.M. in intellectual property in 2019.
