On July 16, Lee International delivered a presentation regarding practical patent practice tips for AI inventions at a seminar hosted by CNH IP Group in Shanghai, China. The session was attended by IP professionals from major Chinese AI companies.
Yoon Suk SHIN, the Senior Patent Attorney, and Young-Bo Shim, a Patent Attorney, led the session, offering practical guidance on key examination standards concerning patentability, specification and claim drafting requirements, and assessments of novelty and the inventive step in AI inventions. Drawing on real examples from the Ministry of Intellectual Property (MOIP, formerly KIPO) Examination Guidelines for AI-related Inventions, they provided in-depth explanation of how these standards are applied in practice.
The presenters also discussed Lee International’s ongoing DABUS application case in Korea, presenting recent developments in examination and litigation trends related to AI-generated inventions, along with an analysis of AI patent filing and examination trends in Korea.
The seminar, held in a hybrid format both online and offline, attracted strong participation and engagement from major Chinese AI companies. A dynamic Q&A session followed, fostering active exchange of insights among participants.
Lee International will continue to share its expertise in Korean IP practices with global professionals and support companies worldwide in effectively securing their IP rights in Korea.
