Patent Attorney
Jeong-Ho Shin is a patent attorney whose practice focuses on trademark and design prosecution, trials and litigation. As a patent attorney, he has built a strong track record over many years in trademark and design prosecution and registration, examination and trial proceedings, appeals from trial decisions before the Intellectual Property High Court, and appeals to the Supreme Court.
From 1985 to 2013, he served at the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) and the Intellectual Property Tribunal, now known as the Ministry of Intellectual Property (MOIP) and the Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board (IPTAB), respectively. His responsibilities included the examination of trademark, design and service mark applications, IP policy and legislative amendments, and trademark examination policy. He also served for many years as a trial judge in the trademark and design trial divisions.
Mr. Shin received a B.A. in Public Administration from the College of Law at Yeungnam University in 1984. He conducted research in IP-related fields at Nagoya University Graduate School of Law, where he received an LL.M. in Modern Law in 2007.
He is fluent in Japanese and is a member of the Korea Patent Attorneys Association (KPAA).
